Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic oils which derive from plant materials.   Aromatic oils, or essential oils, are volatile and powerful substances, affecting the life force of the plant.  Tiny odour smelling molecules influence the mind and body, enhancing the psychological and physical wellbeing.   Essential oils promote balance and harmony within mind and body; creating natural and powerful fragrant therapy for everyone.

Aroma therapy is termed as Holistic Therapy.  The essences of the oils affect the body in a holistic way.  There are many therapeutic benefits from using any kind of oil; from physical symptoms to emotional issues.   Aromatic oils can be tailor made to suit a client’s wellbeing.  Unlike prescription pills for headaches, or muscle pain,  essential oils can be applied in many ways; onto the skin, by massaging a few drops mixed with carrier oils; inhaling the scents through vaporisation or steam inhalation;  incorporated into footbaths, bathing and showering, compresses, face masks and other preparation for skin and hair products.

Aromatherapy is an effective tool for promoting health and preventing illness, by strengthening the body’s immune system.

In the subject of aromatherapy the word ‘synergy’ is used to describe the art of blending essential oils.  When two or more essential oils are blended together – the chemistry of the oils combine, creating an entirely new substance, called ‘synergy’.  This interaction creates a synergistic blend which is far more powerful than using individual oil for treatment.

The art of aromatherapy lies in the selecting and blending of oils, to create synergistic blends.  A qualified aromatherapist must have a thorough knowledge of the therapeutic properties of essential oils, and is able to select a blend for each client.  The principle of synergy allows the therapist to be accurate in providing treatments.
